Daze Ago Carries On in Wake of Sudden Loss with New Song & Video Honoring a Brother Gone Too Soon

(EDITOR’S NOTE — As they continue to work through the Oct. 31 sudden passing of their former drummer Erik Robinson, Daze Ago has regrouped and is moving forward with new music as they simultaneously work to keep Erik’s memory alive. The gazey psychedelic-punk band today released an emotional new song and lyric video, which 1120 Press discussed with guitarist TJ Cutajar. We’re going to let TJ’s words do all talking here. Check out the song and video below, and let’s keep Erik and his family in our thoughts. Daze Ago is Ryan Ploetz - drums; Bryce Malluma-Kopp – bass, and TJ Cutajar- vocals/guitar.)

“We miss Erik a lot. The last year we all put a tremendous amount of work into this band and this song is a culmination of all that work. When thinking of ideas for this video we knew we wanted to work Erik's memory into it somehow. There's subtle ones and obvious ones.

"We were lucky enough that frameeveryframe captured some great video from our last show with Erik. We sent some of those to maxwell_maxim who absolutely crushed this lyric video. Our friend Grant Asklar joined us in the studio to play some sax that really brought this track to life. Though he may be gone from this physical world, Erik will always be with us. In our hearts, in our minds, and in the music we created together.

"This song is one of self-reflection. Sometimes you have to look in the mirror and be honest with yourself. We all have our good and bad traits but there's no use lying to yourself about them. The song starts slow and gradually builds sonically to bring out all its honest truths.” — TJ Cutajar
