(EDITOR’S NOTES — 1120 Press ‘Soundbites’ is a periodic roundup of music happenings from the Buffalo scene. Note: We have a very cool and special holiday item at the end of this piece, so don't miss it. Thank you all for your continued support. You can learn more about 1120 Press and FAQs HERE)

Sara Elizabeth, one half of the excellent indie rock duo ‘Tuesday Nite,’ has released a new single. The solo work, titled ‘Bourbon, Neat,’ dropped today on streaming platforms and can be heard HERE. Sara is one of Buffalo's best songwriters, and 'Bourbon, Neat,' is stamped heavy with the hallmarks that make her music so identifiable: emotionally brave lyrics laid bare against a landscape of beautiful guitar work. Sara performs regularly throughout the city and has an upcoming show at Third Space on Jan. 16 with Andy Pothier and Philip Stephen. Follow Sara on Insta or at her linktr.ee and catch her playing live.
Prolific Buffalo artist Rattlesnake Jake — aka Jade Marciniak (Johnny & the Man Kids, Market Research) — has a new single which dropped a few days before Christmas. The song, titled ‘Pretty Boy,’ can be heard HERE. The single is also accompanied by a very cool new video which you can check out below.

Hardcore-punk band Broken Locker just wrapped up recording five new tracks with renowned engineer Doug White of Watchmen Studios. The upcoming EP will be the hardworking Buffalo band’s third record. No release date has been determined just yet for the new music. Meanwhile, you can catch Broken Locker upstairs at the Attic at Mr. Goodbar this coming Friday.

Buffalo folk-punk artist pjn-x has dropped a very cool new single. Titled ‘rooftop ideologue (we are ouroboros),’ you can check out the song HERE. The track is the first off pjn-x’s upcoming new album — "imagine ouroboros happy" — set to drop on Jan. 16.

Niagara Falls punk band Virus X, now entering its 43rd year, will be adding new music to its
extensive catalogue in 2026. The band will drop a new single on Jan. 1 on all streaming platforms. The song, recorded recently at Watchmen Studios, is called ‘My Dr. Dropped Me.’ Not a bad way to ring in the new year!
And finally, Christmas may be over but the holidays aren’t and, as such, we’re thrilled to bring you this final Soundbites item: A banging rendition of Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas’ by the extremely talented 14-year-old Lyra Eberwine, backed by a full-fledged super group made up of some of Buffalo’s best known punk musicians including, Josh Heatley (Old Ghosts, The Eaves, Dead Hearts), Nate Boorman (Do Crime) and Alex Schultz (The Abruptors). Lyra really knocks this track out of the park with a superb vocal performance beyond her years. And the punk-infused twist on this holiday classic makes for an enjoyable listen. This is the fifth year in a row that Heatley, Boorman and Schultz have teamed up to lend their musical and production talents to bring some holiday cheer. Add Lyra’s vocal talent and you can’t help but feel all the feels. Check out the song/video below! And Happy New Year from 1120 Press!
